During festive seasons like Mother’s Day or Valentine's, florists and custom gift businesses alike struggle to cope with the high influx of delivery orders in spite of having their own delivery fleet or existing logistics companies. In this case, uParcel comes in to help businesses tide over the demand and get these goods delivered in time.

Our Client

Our client is a local florist business, operating a small humble outlet in the suburbs of Singapore. As they deal with imported, premium and fresh flowers, and custom floral arrangements, they were searching for a same day delivery service in anticipation for their spike of delivery orders in the upcoming Mother’s Day celebrations. After comparing the rates of local courier services, they decided to go with us to complete the flower and gifts same day delivery.

Challenges

There were several challenges associated with gifts and flower delivery due to its delicate nature. Especially due to the festive season, delivery agents at uParcel would be deployed at maximum capacity. There’s also requirements for recipients to acknowledge receipt of the gifts. Nevertheless, the team at uParcel had taken all the precautions to ensure that we could receive the delivery orders and ensure that each item or gift box delivery would be handled with care. Some gifts also had to have special instructions such as birthday notes as we also had to fulfil some same day delivery for birthday gifts.

uParcel manages the flower and gifts deliveries outsourced to us, and tracks each delivery automatically in our delivery system, each tagged to their own unique tracking code. For our client’s side, they will place the delivery orders a day before to ensure ample time for job to be accepted. Their customers would be able to track the deliveries at each stage in real-time from pickup, delivery to arrival at destination. During delivery, the recipients will sign on the uParcel mobile app and this digital proof of delivery can be downloaded by our users at any point in time. As our agents are highly trained to handle fragile items with care, each parcel was delivered in perfect condition.

We also provided 2 optional extra service: 1) for an additional layer of protection - a ‘Fragile Item’ add-on for deliveries that require extra attention and careful handling. The client would be able to add this to specific delivery bookings that are especially fragile. 2) Uploading PDF D.O - Users can upload the Delivery Order (D.O) in pdf and the recipients’ signature will be signed on this digital D.O and users can later on download the Delivery Order with the signature acknowledging the receipt.

Conclusion

Despite the festive surge in deliveries, uParcel managed to deliver the items on-time, within a few hours to preserve the freshness and appearance of the flowers. Our client experienced a high return on investment, improving customer satisfaction with our prompt deliveries.
